CHARLOTTETOWN - PEI's capital city will be awash in a red tide as Liberals from across Atlantic Canada converge on Charlottetown this weekend for the only leadership debate to be held on the East Coast.

Sheila Copps, John Manley and Paul Martin will be in PEI for a national leadership debate Saturday, May 24, at 1:30 pm on the main stage of the Confederation Centre of the Arts.

"We are thrilled to have the opportunity to host this event here in Charlottetown," says PEI Liberal Leader Robert Ghiz.

"There is a huge interest in the event, and we are certainly trying to accommodate everyone," says Akaash Maharaj, National Policy Chair of the Liberal Party of Canada.

"It is wonderful to see so many people becoming involved in the political process through our party."

The policy discussions will be held Saturday morning at the Basilica Recreation Centre in downtown Charlottetown, while the fundraising dinner will be held at the Charlottetown Civic Centre.
