The Mosaic Institute is pleased to announce that Akaash Maharaj is joining us as our new CEO.
After an extensive search, Akaash was selected for his deep personal commitment to Mosaic’s core values of bringing together communities and peoples through respectful dialogue and engagement, and promoting intercultural understanding and citizen-led democracy.
Previously, Akaash was CEO of the Global Organization of Parliamentarians Against Corruption (GOPAC), where he grew the international institution to include individual members in nearly every country in the world and national chapters in sixty-two parliaments.
Akaash earned his MA from Oxford University in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics, and was elected President of the Student Union. He was later a member of the Canadian Equestrian Team, and was a triple-gold medallist at the International Championship of Equestrian Skill-at-Arms. In his early career, he was a Management Consultant with McKinsey and Co, where he provided strategic advice to multinational corporations, governments, and public institutions.
Akaash has been decorated twice in Canada’s national honours for his contributions to peace summits regarding the Middle East, and for his services to integrity in international sport.
“We are absolutely delighted that Akaash is the new leader of the Mosaic Institute. We look forward to the exciting work ahead,” said Vahan Kololian, Chairman of the Mosaic Institute.
